Nadiya’s Savoury French Toast (Low FODMAP) is inspired and adapted to a Low FODMAP diet recipe, from Nadiya Hussain’s BBC programme “Nadiya’s Time to Eat”. It is a very tasty proposition for a breakfast or lunch. Crunchy layer of fried bread, with delicate garlic aromas and melt in the mouth Cheddar cheese – what else would you want from a French Toast?

 

  • This Savoury French Toast smells amazingly with garlic, cheese and ham.
  • You can use up any Low FODMAP stale bread for this recipe. Soaking in egg mix will help to revive it!
  • Recipe adapted from “Nadiya’s Time to Eat” programme. Nadiya Hussain is The Great British Bake Off 2015 winner.

INGREDIENTS FOR NADIYA’S SAVOURY FRENCH TOAST (Low FODMAP), 1 PORTION:

2 wholemeal Low FODMAP bread slices

 

1 egg

 

1 tbsp of lactose free milk

 

Pinch of salt

 

A small pinch of turmeric

 

2 slices cooked ham

 

40 g of cheddar cheese

 

1 spring onion, green part only

 

Garlic infused olive oil by Fody to fry

 

A handful of fresh mixed salad leaves to serve

INSTRUCTIONS TO PREPARE NADIYA’S SAVOURY FRENCH TOAST (Low FODMAP):

Crack an egg in a deep plate or a bowl, add lactose free milk, salt and turmeric. Whisk well.

 

Prepare 2 slices of bread, making a sandwich with ham, sprinkled with spring onion and covered with Cheddar.

 

Then soak the sandwich on both sides in a mixture of egg, milk and spices, making sure that most of the mixture will ve soaked by the bread slices.

 

Preheat a non stick pan to a medium heat and pour a little bit of the Low FODMAP Garlic Infused Olive Oil by Fody. You can get it here.
