If you ever feel like a chocolate treat, this Low FODMAP spiced hot chocolate with orange zest and warming spices like cinnamon and nutmeg can be the answer!

It s very easy to make, main work is to heat up the milk, then just to mix it all in. It is great in the evening to warm up, especially in the upcoming colder Autumn days, snuggled in a cosy blanket. Yum.

Ingredients for 1 portion of a Low FODMAP Spiced hot chocolate:

8 g cacao powder. In this recipe I used a Choc Chic raw cacao powder
For other recipes in this blog using a raw cacao powder, go here.
250 ml lactose free milk
1/2 tsp. Orange zest
2 tsp. Sugar
1/2 tsp. Ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Ground nutmeg (or just a pinch if using a freshly grated one)
A pinch of salt

Instructions to make this lovely hot chocolate:

Firstly, heat up the milk in a small pot.

Grate some of the orange zest, about half a teaspoon. Do not add more, because the hot chocolate will be tasting only of the orange!

Measure the rest of dry ingredients ( cacao powder, sugar, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg) into a jug. Add a 1/4 of the heated milk and mix it well, using a tablespoon, making sure that all of the cacao powder is dissolved. Only then add the rest of the hot milk and mix it well again.

Pour the orangey and spicy hot chocolate into a mug and enjoy!
